The 3rd meeting of the Regional Implementation Group of the European project InCompass was held on Monday 23rd September 2013 at the Administration Building of Regional Unity of Pyrgos Ilias. The main target of this meeting was to inform the participants about the activities, progress and the most important findings of the InCompass project, but also to exchange view and opinions for increasing the entrepreneurship at the Region of Western Greece through further reinforcement of research and innovation.
Image - Picture At the meeting, which was organized by the Region of Western Greece and the University of Patras, participated Mr. Charalambos Kafiras (Regional Vice Governor of Ilia), Georgiopoulos George, Bougas Konstantinos and Petropoulos Athanassios (Members of the Regional Council) as well as representatives from the following bodies:
  • The Technical Chamber of Greece (Regional Sector of Ilia)
  • Intermediary Managing Authority (IMA) of Western Greece Region
  • Institute of Labour / GSEE of Western Greece Region
  • Regional Development Agency of WGR
  • Municipality of Ilida
At the beginning, Mr. Charalambos Kafiras (Regional Vice Governor of Ilia) welcomed the meeting and stressed the importance of reinforcing business innovation in the framework of the next programming period, and the related opportunities of the primary sector in Ilia. Mr. S. Papaspyrou, member of the project group of WGR presented the project stressing the importance of the fact that the InCompass project is implemented in a period where Western Greece Region is planning the proposal for the next programming period emphasizing on the requirements of “Smart Specialization Strategic 2014-2020 (Horizon 2020).
Image - Picture The presentation titled «Conclusions from the Project’s Study Visits» followed, by Kostas Tsekouras and Christos Bouras, Professors at the University of Patras. During this presentation, good practices that were identified at the Study Visits of InCompass Project (in Rotterdam, Milan, Malmoe, Beja) were presented and the way that these best practices can be applied in Western Greece Region was discussed.
Image - Picture The cycle of presentations was completed with the presentation of Mr. Dimitris Skouras, Professor at the University of Patras, who spoke about Entrepreneurship innovation in agriculture for the next programming period.
Image - Picture An open discussion was held at the end of the meeting where all participants had the chance to express their thoughts and views. The next meeting of the Project’s Regional Group is expected to be held on December in Agrinion.
