RIG meeting Delft/Rotterdam

The 4th meeting of the RIG Delft/Rotterdam took place in Rotterdam at 30 January, attended by representatives of the municipalities of Delft and Rotterdam, creative industries, incubators and educational institutions.
Image - Picture The meeting was split in two parts. First, the study visit reports on Beja and Patras were discussed. Participants focused in particular on four practices that were considered new compared to previous study visits: the cluster approach of Corallia/Innohub, the strong embeddedness of Incubadora in Tagus park and the university campus, the ideas of the Carnival Lab to raise income on the basis of its large social capital, and flexible and ‘scalable’ provision of work spaces in CoWork Lisboa.

The RIG considers a clear insight in the needs and potential of the region to be essential for the effective selection and application of practices from partner regions. Therefore, the second part of the discussion focused on a SWOT analysis of the regional incubation system in the region Delft/Rotterdam, as a first step towards a regional implementation plan. Among the issues that were discussed were the connection of creative industries to strong regional clusters such as clean tech and medical technology, the step from creative to scalable activities, and the lack of institutional coordination within the region. The local project team will elaborate the results of the meeting in close cooperation with RIG members.
