Dundee has become internationally renowned as a centre of excellence for many of the creative and digital industries, most recently recognised by being appointed by the Victoria and Albert Museum to be the first UK city to provide a base for major international touring exhibitions, showcase Scottish design talent, and promote a wider understanding and application of design.

Dundee is the fourth-largest city in Scotland and the 38th most populous settlement in the United Kingdom. It lies within the eastern central Lowlands on the north bank of the Firth of Tay, which feeds into the North Sea. Under the name of Dundee City, it forms one of the 32 council areas used for local government in Scotland.
